It’s reveal time for the latest Papertrey Ink Surprise Box! The August Surprise Box features a combo of stamps, dies, and stencils, all for fall! As you can see from my card, this set includes everything you need to create the perfect bountiful autumn basket scene.
I started this card by die cutting and stamping the apples and pumpkins. I love that this set has lots of two-layer images. The extra detail layer lets you add lots of shading and depth. To add even more depth, I like to stamp the solid layer with multiple colors. I use a sponge to add 2-3 colors to mimic mother nature. Another tip for getting natural colors and shading is to use a dusty blue ink. In my case, I used Ocean Tides ink on the detail layer and on the edge of the solid stamps. The blue ink doesn’t “read” blue but gives an organic-feeling shadow. In this card, I used it on both the solid and detail layers of the pumpkins.
The Surprise Box also includes the most beautiful basket. It comes with a handle (which I didn’t include here) and the most adorable checkered bow. For my card, I also used the greenery branch for that last added touch. Speaking of added touch, I used one of the many stencils in this set to add a little detail to the background. For the background, I used an Ocean Tides cardstock panel and stenciled it with the Watercolor Stencil from the August release in the same color ink. Then I used one of the leaves stencils just on the corners of the panel. Little details like that really give your cards a finished look. Lastly, the large oval label was made with Rustic White cardstock cut with the previously-released Love to Layer: Ovals die and the sentiment is from the Give Thanks Sentiment set from the August release.
The August Surprise Box has so many other elements and I haven’t even touched the tip of the iceberg! Look for the other cards from the DT and you’ll see!
