Hey everyone! It’s Papertrey Ink May release time and this week we’re counting down to the release on the 23rd! For Day 1 and 2 of the count down, I’ve got a trio of cards that shows the variety of goodies in the new release!
This first card uses the new Into the Blooms: Geraniums dies, Psalm Reflections: May stamps, and Corner Decor stamps. I adore the whole Into the Blooms series, and this set is no exception! The geraniums are so easy to put together and look so realistic! For my card, I really wanted to give some texture and volume to my flowers, so I used an embossing stylus to curve my die cuts. I also used extra layers for each flower and leaf. The result is a really full 3D look. My flowers were blended with ink and spritzed with some water and white spray mist.
The Psalm Reflections: May sentiment is stamped on a label cut with one of the dies in the new Love to Layer: Charming Brackets set. To accent the sentiment, I stamped the top and bottom with a corner stamp from the Corner Decor stamps set. I wanted a softer look so I stamped off the image once and then stamped my label. This second generation stamping gives a more subtle image. To frame the card, I used the previously-released Border Bling: Scalloped Frame.
Now for something different! This next card uses the new Sweet Baby Bib dies with the new Cornered: Fresh Cuts dies. The Sweet Baby Bib dies set is wonderful because it has options for all types of baby cards. I went with a Blueberry Sky and Soft Stone color combo (one of my favorites) for this card which was appropriate for the nautical narwhal theme. For the background, I used the Cornered: Fresh Cuts set to create a custom frame. I was surprised that at the end of the making this card, no stamps were used! The Sweet Baby Bib die set includes a number of fun word dies, so no sentiment stamp set was needed for this one!
For my last card, I’ve got even one more different look! This card uses the new Our Heroes stamps and dies and the Love to Layer: Charming Brackets dies. These two sets together made me think of my father’s army medals and ribbons. I created a “medal” with the Our Heroes stamps and dies and layered that over a gold seal made with one of the Love to Layer: Charming Brackets dies in metallic gold cardstock. Behind the medal, I added 2 “ribbons” with the previously-released Boxy Banner dies in red and blue. For the background, I stamped a pattern in white ink using a stamp from the Our Heroes set on Classic Kraft. It’s really a simple design but has that elegant feel I was hoping to get.
