Hi everybody! It’s Papertrey Ink November Release Day!!! Have you been keeping up with the peeks this week? My blog has been a little “under the weather” this week 😉, so I have some catching up to do!
All my cards today use the fun new Christmas Shakers set. This set has dies to make a tree shaker, a bell shaker, and an ornament shaker. You know I love shakers, I may have gone a little overboard with them! For my first 3 cards, I used the same color combination (Aqua Mist and Berry Sorbet) and general card layout, but each card has a different shaker shape and a different background.
The first one is the tree shaker on a background made with one of the new Show Your Stripes stencils. This card has a lot of little details but the simplified color palette keeps it from getting too busy (I hope!). The shaker itself has a patterned paper background (Bitty Big pattered paper in Aqua Mist) and a little bit of holiday decor with a die cut poinsettia from the Tag Creations: Modern Gift die set. The background was done with one of the Show Your Stripes stencils in a tone-on-tone look with a bit of white spray mist. The sentiment is from the new Just Sentiments: Winter Wonderland set stamped onto a Snowflake Banners die cut. The final touch was a generous helping of coarse glitter on the flower and the snowflakes. As an added bonus, I adhered the the shaker part with some removable double-stick tape and added a hidden ribbon loop in the back. That way, you can take off the shaker and use it as an ornament! Fun, right?
This next card uses the same color scheme and general concept, except this time I used the new Playful Dots stencil for the background along with a panel cut with the new Love to Layer: Rectangles dies. This one has a removable shaker too!
Last but not least, the bell! This one has a background I cut using the new Cover Plate: Stitched Florals with the previously-released Border Bling: Skinny Postage Frames Die. This time, I hung the shaker from the frame to make it removable.
I took a little break from making shakers to put together this little card and it was so easy! I used the tone-on-tone stenciling again with the other stencil in the Show Your Stripes stencil set. Then I added the new Snowflake Fun die cut frame. The sentiment is from the Inside Greetings: Winter Wonderland stamps set and fits perfectly in that die cut frame. The final touches were a little white spray mist, mirror sequins, and coarse glitter accents. This holiday card is a great one to make in multiples!
Just when I thought I was done with making shakers, I had a few more ideas! I love a good rainbow, even for the holidays, and here’s how I introduced them into my shakers. The first one is the bell shaker that uses pipe cleaners as a filler. I knew that that pack of 1000 pipe cleaners would come in handy some day, heehee! I love all the texture of that one! The second one is the tree shaker which is actually a true shaker. For this one, I used Distress Inks to blend a rainbow background and I filled it with bead glitter. Those beads are so awesome for shakers!
The last rainbow shaker is the ornament shaker with a rainbow of cardstock stripes. You really can’t go wrong with rainbow cardstock stripes! Can’t wait to get these on my tree!
I hope you enjoyed seeing all the new projects this week! Don’t forget the Papertrey Ink November release drops tonight (Thursday 11/17) at 10 pm EST!
Aloha, jj
