Hope everyone is having a great weekend! Hope you have a little time left in the weekend to take a look at the Papertrey Ink September release! Today is countdown Day 1 and I’ve a lovely mix of goodies from the new release!
Let’s start off with the new Let It Snow stamps and dies! This set has a great combination of rustic snowflakes that make awesome backgrounds. For my background, I heat embossed my snowflakes onto dark blue cardstock (Dark Indigo). To make the snowflakes pop, I used white ink with a mix of two embossing powders, white and holographic glitter. This is a fun way to add a bit of shine to your cards without the mess of glue and glitter.
The sentiment is stamped onto a stack of labels using the Love to Layer: Squares dies (more on that later this week 😉).
Every release, I try to show the range of the new release with techniques that may be unexpected. For this card, I used the Very Merry Mistletoe stamps in a more organic way. Instead of directly inking up the stamps with the inkpad, I used a waterpen to apply diluted ink to the stamps. For the stems and berries stamps, I used the full strength ink. The result is a monochromatic card with “watercolored” images. To finish off the card, I added a shiny gold frame, some iridescent bubble embellishments, and a sentiment heat embossed on a vellum strip.
This next card uses the Elegant Edges: Holly Berries dies. This die can be used as a single edge or, as in this case, die cut twice to make a double-sided panel. I used the die with gold, red, and green glitter cardstock and then I inlaid it into the panel. I wish you could see how sparkly this one is!
Last but not least, I have a card using the newest set from the Into the Blooms series. The Into the Blooms: Pine set has a variety of dies for both pinecones and pine sprigs. The elements of this set reminded me of those cute Christmas arrangements, so I made my own with the Weave-a-basket dies. I added a few extra fillers using the Tag Creations: Modern Gift Die. The adorable bow is from a new set that you’ll see later this week!
