Happy May everyone! Today is going to be such a fun day because we’ve got the Waffle Flower May release blog hop! This month’s theme is “Happy B Day” and we’ve got lots of fun birthday ideas and literal bees 😆 🐝! Birthday cards and thank you cards seem to be the ones I make most, so I’m always happy to see more b-day ideas!
I told you we had actual bees this month and here they are! These bees were designed by Galina, and I think they are just the cutest things. The Happy Bee die set is a layering set and each bee comes with 3 layers (base layer, stripe layer, and wings). So easy to put together and just the most adorable bees! Behind the bees is the new Hexagon Texture die colored with the coordinating Hexagon Layering Stencil Duo. Like our other texture dies, the Hexagon Texture die is an A2 sized die that cuts a pattern but does not cut the A2 outline. Because there’s no outline cut line, you can put this die anywhere on your card front. I colored the background with one of the 2 stencils in the Hexagon Layering Stencil Duo. I used the one that only colors inside the honeycombs. To create the frame around the honeycomb, I used the previously-released Organic Frame die.
The sentiment on this card is from the new Happy Bee Day Stamp set. This set was designed to work with the Happy Bee dies, but the cute font and sayings work with so many more themes. I also added a couple of little cute flowers that are actually from the new Bee Hive die set. To finish off the card I add some extra details with some white misting, raindrops, and a little bit of glitter pen on the wings (which I cut in vellum).
For my next card, I used one of the new balloon-themed goodies from this month’s release. Balloons are so iconic for birthdays, but there’s so many other ways to use them in your cards. For this card, I used the new Outlined Balloons die to make something a little different. I love the movie Up and when I saw this die, I knew I wanted to make this card. If you’ve seen the movie, you know what the inspiration is. I die cut the Outlined Balloons die and inlaid each balloon in a different color (blended ink). For the house, I used the previously-released House Outline die with the Brick Wall Stencil. I also added the little detail of a little doggie in a window. For the background, I used the Cloud Stencil and sentiment from the Little Birdie Sentiments set.
If you’re looking for balloons for birthday cards, these next two are for you! For these next two cards, I used the new Foil Balloons Foil Plates with the Balloons Ties dies. There’s nothing as festive as a shiny foil balloon and here’s the card version! The Foil Balloons Foil Plates come in 3 different shapes, and I used them here with some rainbow foil. How cute is that? The background is a full card shaker and I added a foiled sentiment using the previously-released Happy Birthday Foil Plate Duo.
I used the same foil plates for this card but this time I pulled all my silver and gold patterned foils. I LOVE how this turned out. I wish I could take a picture that shows all the shine! I added even more shine with sentiments cut in gold metallic cardstock Papercut Banners Die. These dies are so fun and so easy to add to cards.
That’s it for me today! Thanks for stopping by! Next on the hop is the fantastic Amanda Rochaix!
