Hello all! It’s the last day of the Papertrey Ink March 2023 Countdown and I have a couple more cards to share from this month. These two cards today mix two of my favorite things, die cutting and bold colors!
My first card uses the new My Mom die set and the Into the Blooms: Gerber Daisies set. The My Mom die set has a few dies that you can layer, but I love that one die has the dotted detail along the outside of the cut line. That means they are perfect to use for negative die cuts like this! Negative die cuts make great shakers and that’s just what I did (I also added more texture with the previously-released Cover Plate: Quilted die). I backed the negative die cut with some glitter paper and filled my shaker with seed beads and mirror paillettes (basically sequins without holes).
After I put the shaker together, I added the die cut daisies. These dies are amazing and so easy to put together! For the final touch, I die cut a small banner and stamped it with a sentiment from the new Tuck It set. All of the colored pieces are ink blended and splattered with white spray mist and water. Ink splattering is one of favorite things!
This next card uses the new Psalm Reflections: March set. My sister’s name is Joy, so any “joy” things were popular at our house growing up. I stamped the large sentiment onto a label from the Love to Layer: Lovely Bracket dies set. I stamped onto the medium label and backed it in vellum with the largest die. For the card base, I die cut a shaped panel using the new Elegant Edges Doily die at the top and the Cornered Doily dies at the bottom. The Edge Doily die includes an outline die that cuts edge-to-edge. I ink blended the doily cut panel in rainbow colors and added water and white paint splatters. The final touches are clear rhinestones, backing of white glitter paper, and a rainbow stamped and “joy” die cut. I love that little extra detail to emphasize one word.
So now that you’ve seen all of the new release, what’s caught your eye? Jump over to the Papertrey Ink blog for the final details before the release and get ready for release night, Tuesday 28th at 10 pm EDT!
Aloha, jj
