Happy April everyone! I’m excited to be on the blog today with the Waffle Flower April 2023 Release Blog Hop! This month is a big one and I can’t wait to share all the wonderful goodies with you! If you’ve been following along with the intros on the Waffle Flower Blog, you’ll know that this month includes beautiful butterflies, dotted stitching dies, charming pinking frames, and more!

My first card today uses one of my new designs called Gilded Butterfly! This design includes a hot foil plate, coloring stencil duo, and a die (all available separately). In this card, I used all three together to make a hidden shaker card. I started by foiling the delicate veins of the butterfly wings. Then I added multiple colors using the stencil duo. The stencils are designed to add 2+ colors and it’s super easy especially if you use WFC blending brushes. Then I used the coordinating die to cut out the butterfly shape.

To create the hidden shaker, I used the same die to create a shaker on the card front and overlaid my die cut butterfly over the shaker. When I attached the die cut butterfly, I only glued the body of the butterfly. I gently scored the wings of the die cut so that I could lift them up just slightly to reveal the hidden shaker. The final detail is the sentiment from the new Fluttering By Sentiments set.

This next card also uses the Gilded Butterfly set in a slightly different way. For this one, I hot foiled onto the full card panel and then used a leftover negative die cut to ink blend the butterfly shape. The sentiment is from the new For the Ladies stamp and dies. This set has a variety of large stamps for almost all the ladies in your life (Mom, Mum, Sis, Aunt, etc.) plus subsentiments to customize your message. The subsentiments are curved so that they fit around the large stamps and work well with circle and arched dies. This card also has a little extra detail texture cut using the new Flutter By Trails die set. This set has a variety of texture cuts which are great for all your fluttering and flying critters.

I could not put down the Gilded Butterfly set and I have one more card using the foil plate, stencil, and die. For this card, I foiled the veins onto white cardstock and die cut the butterfly shape. Then I used the stencils to add coloring in blues and purples. After the coloring was dry, I heat embossed over the coloring using clear embossing powder. The clear embossing serves as a resist layer, and I was able to go over the whole butterfly with black Distress Oxide ink. This is a great way to “color” on a dark background. The last step was to splatter the die cut with water and white paint.

For the background, I started with A2 panel die cut with the new Tiny Crosses Panel Die. I feel like every card needs a little texture and the Tiny Crosses Panel die adds texture perfectly. I wanted more color on the panel, so I sprayed with Distress Oxide spray. The sprayed color helps to highlight the rectangle frame that I cut using the new Pinking Rectangle Frames. The sentiment is also from the new Fluttering By Sentiments stamps and dies.

My last card of the day is not a butterfly but a bunny! This bunny was made using two of the dies from the new Pinking Circle Frames die set. I stacked the circle frames to make two shakers and then added bunny ears from the Bunny Ears die set (I used the small inner ear dies). The sentiment is from the Happy Easter Duo sentiment set and the yellow background panel was die cut with two dies, Dashed Rhombus Panel Die and one of the A2 Lacy Layers dies.
