Thanks to the lovely folks over at Scrapbook.com, I got a chance to create with the new Tim Holtz & Sizzix Halloween 2023 release! The collection was released last month, and today, I’ve got lots of cards to share! Tim Holtz Sizzix dies are some of my favorite dies to work with because they always have so much detail and they cut with one pass. And have you noticed that each die is etched so that you know what set it goes with? Love, love, love!

My first card today uses the new Edison Colorize set. This set comes with a multi-layer pumpkin plus a couple of spooky clouds. The pumpkin is oversized and it’s definitely is the star of the show! I went a little non-traditional for this card with a hot pink/black combo. I also added a bit of glam with some silver glitter paper (Scrapbook.com Mixed Metals) and some holographic drops. For the background, I used a Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz Moon Layering Mask and added a stamped sentiment from the Crazy Talk set. This one was so much fun to make!

This next card uses more traditional Halloween colors, and, boy, did it get grungy! This card uses the new Layered Dots dies, Big Frights dies, and Cracked 3D Texture Fade. I really wanted lots of color and texture with this card, so for the the top panel and the word die, I die cut and then ran the die cuts through the texture fade folder. Just a tip for created embossed die cuts, die cut first, then emboss, and then ink blend. Doing it in this sequence makes sure the texture stays intact and also enhances the ink blending. As a final touch I added some googly eyes, bats, and lots of splattering!

I know this was a Halloween release, but these next cards show how versatile this release is beyond Halloween. The Artsy Leaves set is my favorite from this release and includes a bunch of funky leaves and stems that you can mix and match. And mix and match is what I did! I started by ink blending pieces of cardstock with Distress Oxides in a variety of colors. After ink blending, each piece was splattered with water, white ink, and a darker shade of the main color.

I made two versions of basically the same card. One has a round aperture and the other has a rectangle aperture to hold the leaves. Both cards have simple stamped sentiments (from the Crazy Talk set and the Noteworthy set). Each card has a sprinkling of clear drops. As a subtle final touch, I layered the panel over a card base in a soft taupe color. I always love how that little detail makes it feel more special and finished.

This final card is a total freebie because it’s made of all the die cut leftover from the last two cards! All those colorful leftovers were too cool to throw away, so I trimmed them down a bit (randomly) and played around with layering them. This is what happened!

I finished off the card with some mirrored confetti and a label sticker sentiment (Tim Holtz Label Stickers). Such an easy card to make and you get to save every yummy ink-covered piece of cardstock!

That’s it for me today! There’s more in the release, so definitely check everything out at Scrapbook.com! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Aloha, jj
