Hey guys! Welcome to the Waffle Flower August 2022 Release Blog Hop! Today we’ve got lots to see and chances to win some of these new release goodies too! Let’s get started!
I’ll start of today with a new Waffle Flower exclusive set Star Snowflake! This combo is only available now on the WFC site. The combo includes the large die set (10 dies!), coordinating sentiment stamp set, and a stencil duo. All elements in the set complement and coordinate with each other, but work individually too! For my first card I layered the die cut over the shadow die. To make the star snowflake standout, I layered a glitter die cut behind it, just a smidge offset. Other details that add a finished look are the stitching detail on the shadow die, ink blending over the background panel, some clear crystal gems, and a tiny bit of glitter paper border around the edge.
This next card uses the star snowflake die again but this time it’s layered with one of the label dies, the star. The star is designed to layer perfectly over the star snowflake and it makes a great place to put a sentiment. This card was super quick to put together. I used paper from the Christmas Stripes Paper Pad and added strips of gold glitter cardstock to dress it up. This is an easy way to get different looks from patterned paper.
My last card using the Star Snowflake set is a non-holiday card. I used the star label die to create a colorful background. Even though the Star Snowflake is primarily a winter/holiday set, most of the elements in the bundle can be used all year round.
I have more ideas using the Star Snowflake bundle and I’ll be sharing it over the next few weeks. I haven’t even shown you the matching stencil yet! Before you hop to the next stop, I have a couple cards using some of the other goodies from the release!
This next card uses the new Fancy Frames Die and a sentiment from the Classic Frame Hot Foil Plate set. The Fancy Frames Die set has 3 dies, and I used the largest and the smallest dies. I die cut the flowers using the previously-released Layered Flowers dies.
My last card today uses the new Oversized Thank You Hot Foil Plate. Just like the sister stamp set, this sentiment is bold and fills an A2 size card. I hot foiled the sentiment with rainbow confetti foil and then die cut it. Love the look of a die cut, hot foiled sentiment!
For the background, I used the previously-released A2 Piercing Panel to make a sunburst pattern. Instead of using thread, I used some super sparkly mylar hair tinsel. Hair tinsel is this really thin mylar (like the balloons) strips that people use for hair decoration. I love them because they come in tons of colors, are way shinier than metallic threads, and are more affordable than spools of thread. I have shiny thread too, but I like to keep that for sewing only.
I “stitched” a loose starburst pattern and hid the stitching behind the die cut. The best part is that the hair tinsel is rainbow-colored and matches the hot foil perfectly. I love it when that happens!
That’s it for me today, but there are lots more to see in the hop! The next stop on the hop is fantastic Caly Person!
