Welcome to the Waffle Flower August 2023 Release Blog Hop! I’ve been playing with all my holiday goodies since June, so it was nice to take a break with the “summery” theme this month. This month at Waffle Flower is all about tropical and fruity fun! You’ll find a plethora of fruit-themed stamps, dies, stencils, and foil plates. Plus, we’ve got some tropical-themed sets including the individual stamps and dies from the Tropical Kit that came out last year. To round out the month, we’ve also got some celebratory cake dies and stamps.
Speaking of cakes, my first card today uses the new Kamo Fruity Cake set. When I first saw this set it just put a smile on my face! This set features a collection of stamps to create those adorable fruit and cream cakes you see in those boutique bakeries. Those cakes were a favorite of my mother’s and we continue to celebrate with them even now. This set also comes with the cutest little bear and mouse stamps to add to your cake scenes. I used the stamps to create a multi-tier version with lots of fruits and little critters.
I used my copics to add some color (so easy) and added a bit of white gel pen detail. The sentiment is from the previously released Papercut Banners dies. The background panel was made using 2 dies, the Dashed Rhombus Panel die and the Nesting Portrait Arches dies.
Now I told you this month is all about summer and what’s more summery than lots of colorful and juicy fruits? This next card uses two of those fruit goodies, the Oversized Fruit Stencil and Oversized Fruit Die. The trio of stencils can be used alone or with the coordinating Oversized Fruit Die to create supersized oranges, lemons, limes, kiwis, watermelons, strawberries, and more! As you can see, I chose to make a big, juicy strawberry with a bit of stem and seeds details.
To go with my oversized berry I used a sentiment from the Fruit Sentiments set. The sentiments in this set are a bit larger and have a fun font that is perfect for all your fruity cards. As a final touch, I added a cute little bee and strawberry flower using the previously-released Happy Bee die and the Sweet Daisy die. This one was so fun to make and I know I’m going to be making lots more with different fruits!
So for my last card, I wanted to show you how to use the Oversized Fruit Stencil for more than fruits! I used one of the stencils to create this rainbow design by stenciling it once with pastel rainbow colors, rotating the stencil a bit, and then stenciling again with bolder rainbow colors. Such an easy technique with lots of payoff! To finish off the card, I added a sentiment is from the Love Thanks set and a sprinkling of clear drops.
That’s it for me today, but there’s lots more to see in the blog hop! Next on the hop is the fun Rebecca Keppel!
