I’m beyond excited today to be posting on the blog today! Not only it is World Cardmaking Day (yay!), but I get to share some goodies from the new Tim Holtz & Sizzix Holiday 2022 release (super yay)! Huge thanks to Scrapbook.com and Tim Holtz for sending me some of the new release to play with! I LOVE anything Tim Holtz, but I always have a soft spot for his holiday creations. Now let’s get to those goodies!

My first two cards are versions of the same design. For the focal point I used the amazing Retro Santa dies! This set has layering dies which, when put together, give such a cool dimensional look. I die cut Santa and highlighted the pieces with some Distress Inks. I also used some patterned paper for Santa’s suit. I love that that subtle detail gives Santa a more vintage look. The background paper is also from the same paper pad.

The sentiment is from the Christmas Bold Text dies. These word dies are a Tim Holtz signature design and they’re the type of sentiment that you keep going back to year after year. This particular sentiment is extra fun because you can do a little fun trick with the message. I used different cardstock to inlay into the die cut to make two messages: “Believe in the Magic” and “Be the magic”! How fun is that? The final touch was a bit of Distress Oxide misting and some matte gold pearls.

Now I told you I did two versions of this card, and here’s the blue version! I used the same techniques but switched up the layout to landscape orientation. The background uses solid paper from this Christmas paper pad and the same patterned paper pad from the previous card. I layered the background to create a thin frame around the card which really makes for a more finished look. I set the Santa outside the frame (all the way to the corner) which is a really small detail, but makes him pop a bit more.

I did the double message sentiment technique again with two messages: “You be of good cheer” and “Be good”! Seems appropriate for Santa, right?

Last but not least, I have a card using the Bold Text dies with another release set called Harvey Colorize. This builder set has all kinds of dies to create the cutest little tin soldiers! I had so much fun putting together this trio of soldiers with all the little details from the feathers in the cap to the shiny boots.

The sentiment is also from the Bold Text dies (so many to choose from) but instead of doing an inlay in the background, I made a panel. I die cut it in black, trimmed down into a rectangle, and then backed it with shiny gold metallic cardstock that matches the details in the soldiers. I layered the whole card over matching gray cardstock as the final finishing touch. I can’t wait to make more of these little guys in different colors!

I hope you had fun seeing some of the new Tim Holtz & Sizzix Holiday 2022 release! There’s much more to see from the release, so I hope you go check them out here!

Thanks so much for stopping by today and I hope that you’re having fun celebrating World Cardmaking Day too!

Aloha, jj
